Who We Are
NAMI Southeast Louisiana is a grassroots organization dedicated to offering education, support, resources, and advocacy for individuals living with mental illness, their families, and the community. Like our national organization, we started as a volunteer-based organization. Today, we employ a staff of more than 70 people and have created a movement to positively change mental health in our community.
What We Do
NAMI SELA serves nine parishes in Southeast Louisiana – Jefferson, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington. Our organization advocates at the local and state level for better access to community-based, recovery-oriented, and quality behavioral health services. We offer understanding to anyone concerned about mental illnesses and the treatment of mental illness. We have three locations in total, two on the Southshore (Mid-city and Westbank) and one location on the Northshore. We offer a bandwidth of mental health resources through education classes, trainings, support groups, counseling, housing, and more.
