Who We Are

SBP is a national disaster resilience and rebuilding organization headquartered in New Orleans. Our mission is to shrink the time between disaster and recovery.

What We Do

SBP’s programs systematically shrink the time between disaster and recovery, in turn benefitting entire communities by averting the long-term negative health outcomes of a drawn-out recovery. 15+ years after Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans community is still grappling with residual crises resulting from the storm: the lack of affordable housing, the widespread number of blighted properties and empty lots, and increased rental rates in the region. Thousands of families who called New Orleans home before Katrina have struggled to return or maintain homeownership because housing is unaffordable.

SBP’s programs provide crucial home repairs for families, seniors, and veterans, develop resilient affordable housing, and provide disaster preparedness training for local schools and small businesses. Our programs are transformative for members of our community who are most vulnerable to the threat of disaster and fortify them from future hardship.
