Our mission is to spread awareness about permaculture and sustainable farming practices. Through workshops, instructional videos, and community events, everyone is invited to learn more about how to reduce our carbon footprint, grow food, and live well.
We envision Grow On being a comprehensive learning institute that provides training and jobs within the fields of permaculture and sustainable agriculture. We aim to grow a workforce that transforms blighted properties into permaculture centers and food forests that teach people how to nourish themselves and the earth, strengthen the immediate community, and stimulate the local economy.
We began building our flagship location in the St. Roch neighborhood in July 2015, and officially became Grow On in June 2016. Two overgrown lots plagued by drug use and illegal dumping, transformed into a hub for community gatherings and an urban oasis that produces food for the neighborhood; serving as a prototype of what’s possible on the many abandoned lots in New Orleans.
