In June of 2026, CGR was awarded a grant by AARP to build and distribute 150 Disaster Prep Kits to our elderly neighbors (age 50+). These kits are designed to help older neighbors shelter in place for up to a 3-day period given inclement weather and dangerous travelling conditions.
Kits will be distributed during CGR's Free Pantry on August 15th and August 22nd until all kits have been distributed. The Pantry is an active space, and our team will need help carrying these kits to our elderly neighbor's cars!
We also want to take time to explain to each neighbor what is included in the kits, so if you are comfortable lifting 20+ lbs and enjoy chatting with neighbors, this is the place for you!
Please wear close-toed shoes that are comfortable to walk in. We will provide water, bathrooms, wifi, popsicles, and music!
