Derived from “salvage” and “creations,” Salvations is a Salvage Design Competition that culminates in an evening exhibition celebrating all things salvage.

Each year, the Green Project reclaims 2 million pounds of usable materials from the landfill and resells them at an affordable price to the community. Our overarching mission is to demonstrate that these reclaimed goods have value.

Salvations exemplifies this mission in real time by pairing reclaimed materials with beautifully crafted, one-of-a-kind design featured in our annual Salvage Design Competition.

Over 9 years, Salvations Salvage Design Competition has exhibited the work of over 100 designers from Louisiana and the Gulf South. Promoting the talented individuals that make up our community is a pillar of this event.

At the exhibition, designers’ work is showcased and auctioned 
in support of both the designers and the Green Project.

Aligning with our environmentally-minded mission, we source Salvations locally, featuring New Orleans-based vendors, women- and minority-owned businesses and local food options.

In 2019, we composted 304 pounds of food waste and recycled 80 pounds of glass, 6 pounds of plastic and metal, and 74 pounds of cardboard.

Featuring eats from 1000 Figs, beer by NOLA Brewing, wine, a specialty cocktail, music from the Cigar Box Serenaders and the main event—32 pieces of one-of-a-kind salvage design made by local makers!
