Thank you for your willingness to help with tornado relief efforts! Our day of action will be this Saturday, Dec. 17 from 9am-12pm. Please meet at L.H. Marrero Middle School 4100 7th St, Marrero, LA 70072. From there, teams will fan out in the surrounding neighborhood to help clean up debris from public spaces and meet residents who may need help inside their homes. This event is hosted by HandsOn New Orleans, Rebuilding Together New Orleans, and United Way of Southeast Louisiana. Closed toed shoes are required. We will provide all tools, equipment, PPE, water, refreshments, and of course free HandsOn t-shirts! Unfortunately we will not have access to the school's restrooms, but there are businesses open in neighborhood.
We will follow FEMA's guide to debris removal by sorting and bagging debris into 6 categories that allows trash collectors to take materials to the correct dump site for disposal.
