Volunteer: Childcare Volunteers Needed for Generation Hope Events!


Join Generation Hope's Hope Corps as a Childcare Volunteer!

Do you love working with children and want to support young parents as they pursue their college degrees? Generation Hope is looking for compassionate volunteers to provide on-site childcare for the children of our Scholars (teen parents in college) during programming events.

When?
Our events take place mostly on Saturdays, with occasional weekday events throughout the year.

What’s Involved?


Volunteers provide childcare while parents attend programming. Parents remain nearby during events.


Why Volunteer?
By joining our Hope Corps, you’re directly helping young parents focus on their education while ensuring their children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment. This is an impactful way to give back and empower families in your community.

Volunteer Requirements:

All volunteers 18+ must have a background check on file. (If you’re unsure whether your background check is current, reach out to us!) Volunteers must complete a 1-hour Childcare Volunteer Training before volunteering. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least three events per year.

Our Scholars need academic support to succeed in their studies - to that end, we match any tutor with an academic need to a volunteer tutor, who provides either in-person or virtual tutoring support.

We’re looking for volunteers with expertise in college subjects: specifically in Biology, English, Mathematics, and Health Sciences.

Whether in person or virtual, your guidance can help a determined Scholar reach their educational goals.

What You’ll Do:

Did you know that fewer than 2% of teen mothers who give birth before age 18 earn a college degree by age 30? At Generation Hope, we’re working to change that-one family and one system at a time. You can be part of this impactful mission.

Become a Generation Hope Mentor in New Orleans.
As a mentor, you’ll be paired one-on-one with a determined teen parent pursuing their college degree. Throughout their journey, you’ll meet monthly to provide guidance, encouragement, and support.

Your Commitment:

$1,200/year ($100/month) for a community college student $2,400/year ($200/month) for a four-year college student
All contributions go directly toward your Scholar’s tuition.

Who Can Be a Mentor?
We welcome mentors from all backgrounds. All you need is a caring heart and a willingness to help a young parent succeed.
