Who We Are

The program started in 1998 in Colorado, with the assistance of CARENET AMERICORPS in Commerce City. As the founder Madera E. Rogers introduced over 5,000 youth from various school districts to become artists, writers interviewers and more. The 11x17 Magazine of 100 pages was written, photographed and edited by youth. For New Orleans the pilot program has worked with three small independent and home schools in the area. Before the COVID pandemic one school had implemented an in the classroom program of at least twice a week. It incorporated youth, parents, teachers and community involvement. A grant was awarded by YSA to create an environmental component THE RECYCLE CHALLENGE. 35 youth were involved in reporting and creating recycled costumes and products.
