Peace by Piece New Orleans

Who We Are

Peace by Piece New Orleans supports Hollygrove community members through education and community organizing to build sustainable, equitable neighborhoods rooted in self-determination and community control. Under our management, the Hollygrove Community Garden provides a space for local youth and residents to access healthy, organic produce and works to confront systems and institutions, specifically food and mass surveillance, that engender inequality, poverty, and violence.

What We Do

The Hollygrove Community Gardens are a space for local youth and residents to access healthy, organic produce. The Sustainable Communities Project, a collaboration between Peace by Piece New Orleans and the Hollygrove Neighbors Association, Inc., is dedicated to ensuring food access and security by expanding gardens and adding new installations. Over the past year, 352 volunteers have helped maintain our five garden properties in Hollygrove. Our neighborhood composting program has enabled 20 households to recycle over 3,500 pounds of food waste for compost and reduce landfill contributions. Engaging programs such as the Community Kitchen series, Get to Know Your Garden workshops, and Community-Driven Planning spark conversations among residents about sustainability and food access. Through our partnership with Grow Dat Youth Farm, we have distributed over 5,500 pounds of produce and hosted community food shares for 1,500 residents. Peace by Piece aims to further enhance the impact of the garden programs and advance sustainability in Hollygrove.
