The Roots of Music

We work with more than 150 students between the ages 9 and 14. Our students come from schools and homes throughout New Orleans, and come together in the after-school hours.

The Roots of Music offers free, year-round music education and mentorship to the youth of New Orleans. We offer music education, homework assistance and tutoring, round-trip transportation, and daily meals to over 150 students from across the city. *No musical background is needed to volunteer with us!*
