Who We Are

Ashé Cultural Arts Center, founded in 1998, is a New Orleans nonprofit organization with a mission to utilize art and culture to foster equitable community and human development by producing and presenting programs, projects and activities that demonstrate the positive contributions people of African descent make to their communities.

What We Do

Ashé Cultural Arts Center, works to improve the quality of life, the economic standing, and the widening of opportunities for residents of New Orleans, specifically along the O.C. Haley Boulevard Cultural Corridor of Central City, where the organization is a pivotal actor in the efforts to rebuild and rebrand the neighborhood as a place distinguished by "Community, Culture and Commerce." Our programs and services are organized under six interlocked categories: Creative Programs, Community & Cultural Programs, Education, Social Entrepreneurship, Wellness, and Affordable Housing. These programs, projects and events include performing and visual arts programs; music and spoken word recordings; literary and media activities; community festivals and cultural commemorations; and arts, cultural education and physical fitness classes.
