Who We Are

Greater Treme Consortium, Inc., (GTC) is a community based, 501(c) non-profit. The organization was formed in 1993 with a mission to increase affordable housing opportunities for low-moderate income families and to support the development of small businesses. Our boundaries are: N. Rampart, to N. Broad and Esplanade to Canal Streets. Over the past twenty years, Greater Treme Consortium, Inc. have been advocates for the improvement of living, economic, cultural, and social conditions in Treme. We have advocated for housing, the elimination of poverty, education, beautification, small business development, healthcare, the environment, and preservation of Treme’s unique culture. We are supporters of all that work to bring improvements to the Treme community and have collaborated with many organizations towards that goal. Our work over the years include; outreach to residents, businesses, and other non-profits, organizer of community meetings which led to the development of affordable housing both, rentals and home ownership, developed a community maintenance program, collaborated to develop the first youth ran restaurant in Treme, one of the 1st organization to bring the National American Civilian Corps, to New Orleans, we've conducted health testing, developed community gardens, provided housing and credit counseling services. Most recently, GTC entered into a collaborating partnership with Water Wise Gulf South to increase awareness of Green Infrastructure with a goal to reduce flooding in the Treme neighborhood.

What We Do

Currently, Greater Treme Consortium provides affordable housing to low-moderate income families and individuals. We support small business development and preservationist of Treme indigenous culture. For the past 4 years, we have collaborated with the former Water Wise NOLA now Water Wise Gulf South to increase residents awareness of Green Infrastructure as a means to reduce flooding in Treme with the implementation of DIY Projects such as: rain gardens, planter boxes, tree installation, rain barrels, and on going workshops, training and tours.
