Who We Are

Woodlands Conservancy is a nonprofit organization created with the mission to preserve and restore an ecosystem dedicated to creating daily public opportunities for recreation, ecotourism and education in a natural and historic setting. The vision of Woodlands Conservancy is to be the regional model for the conservation of hardwood forests, and a leader in the advocacy and preservation of Louisiana’s coastal forest ecosystems.

What We Do

Our mission is to help stop the loss of coastal wetland forests. These forests serve as a natural sponge to absorb storm water run-off, provide a wind buffer to protect our homes and businesses, and serve as a habitat corridor for resident wildlife and migratory birds. It is important that we preserve and protect our remaining forested wetland for future generations. We do this through education, research, and action. Through programs we run with surrounding school districts, universities, and corporate volunteers we have planted over 14,000 trees and rising.
