Come volunteer for our 1 Billion Rising event geared toward empowering, as well as caring for, women from all walks of life!
We are seeking 9 volunteers to help with hospitality.
One Billion Rising (OBR) is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history. The campaign began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped in her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than one billion women and girls.
Connecting New Orleans to the rest of the world, Sisters in the Name of Love, sponsored by Ashé Cultural Arts Center, has since 2012 presented a themed event that includes empowerment, movement and pampering sessions for women. The day includes music, singing, story circles, massages, discussions, food, fun and more. Women from all walks of life are encouraged to join us.
