Bead Sorting with Arc of Greater New Orleans

The Mardi Gras Bead Recycling Center makes for a fun and festive volunteer outing, especially for large groups. Mardi Gras music is always part of the setting as volunteers are tasked with sorting, banding and bagging Mardi Gras beads that are then sold to float riders. Not only does this social enterprise provide "green" jobs for people with disabilities, it also keeps hundreds of thousand of pounds of discarded beads out of the landfills. Individual volunteers and large groups are welcome during the week and with notice, weekends dates can also be arranged.
