Amanzi ministry will be hosting an event that provides free washer and dryer services for single and homeless mothers. We will need volunteers for the 1st & 3rd Saturday’s of each month. Below are the tasks volunteers will be asked to complete. We would like to ask all volunteers to be available between 9:45am and 2:15pm to help set up and break down before and after Amanzi.
If you would like to volunteer with the ladies, here are some of the things that we would like for you to do:
- Help the ladies with the settings on the machines
- Show them where the detergents are
- After they wash their clothes, wipe out the washing machines with sanitizing wipes
- After an hour, all washing loads should be complete. Monitor the washing machines in order to let the ladies know when their machines are complete
- After they finish drying clothes, check the lent drawer and then check the inside of the machine for any left over clothes or “trash” left in the dryer
- Offer the ladies food, snacks, coffee, etc. If they want anything out of the refrigerator, you can get it for them.
If you would like to volunteer with the children, here are some of the things that we would like for you to do:
- Fix the children something to eat, if they ask
- Color in the coloring books with them.
- Play UNO or child appropriate games with them
- If they want to go out on the play yard, take them outside (weather permitting)
*At the end of the day, we all tidy up around the room and leave happy to have served our community.
