The Levee Food Pantry at 1804 Deslonde St was created in partnership with lowernine.org, Common Ground Relief, and Second Harvest Food Bank in order to address food insecurity for those in our neighborhood and the greater city of New Orleans. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March we operated a mobile pantry and collaborated with a variety of other organizations to assist with voter registration, COVID-19 testing, mask distributions, etc. Since the start of our food security work, we have distributed over 200,000 lbs of food, all free of charge.
Equipped with 3 refrigerators, shelves, and 2 grocery baskets, this food pantry is organized like a grocery store, where clients can come in and "shop" for the food items they are looking for.
The Levee Pantry serves clients from 3 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
